Scandal: Vigilance court orders probe

Thiruvananthapuram: The Vigilance court here has ordered the Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau (VACB) to conduct an inquiry into the allegation that a top management functionary of the Desabhimani newspaper, the party organ of th e ruling Communist Party of India (Marxist), had accepted Rs.1 crore as bribe from LIS, a private financial institution under investigation for money-chain fraud.

The inquiry commissioner passed the order on the basis of a complaint filed by the activist of a non-profitable organisation.
