Sagar heading for full level

Special Correspondent

HYDERABAD: After Srisailam, it is the turn of Nagarjunasagar and Thungabhadra dams to achieve full storage. The crest-gates of both these dams are likely to lifted in a day or two.

With Srisailam being full, the inflows into the Krishna helped in improving the reservoir level in Nagarjunasagar.

A heavy inflow of over 3 lakh cusecs is reaching Srisailam following heavy discharges from Almatti and rains in the intermediary catchment areas.

After a gap of one week, the authorities opened seven out of the 12 flood-gates of Srisailam dam again as a result of which the level in Nagarjunasagar dam touched 574 ft by Friday evening as against its full level of 590 ft. Engineer-in-Chief, Irrigation, M. K. Rahaman, told The Hindu that the crest-gates of Nagarjunasagar would be opened on Saturday or Sunday .
