Basu reiterates charge

Special Correspondent

KOLKATA: Veteran Marxist leader Jyoti Basu on Friday repeated his charge that the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and the Research and Analysis Wing (RAW) with antagonistic to the Communist Party of India(Marxist).

“It is no secret that the agencies [the CBI and RAW] are biased against us,” Mr. Basu said, referring to the arrest of Singur CPI(M) leader Suhrid Dutta by the CBI in connection with the murder of a teenaged girl Tapasi Malik. Her charred body was found at the site of the Tata Motors’ car manufacturing project in Singur on December 18, 2006.

“The accused will defend himself in court,” Mr. Basu said, adding that Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee had handed over the case to the CBI in his capacity as Home Minister.
