Chennai: R. Ramkumar (Jolly Rovers) and Ra. Aravind (Parry’s) notched up centuries on the opening day of the second round in the TNCA first division cricket league. Opener Ramkumar’s 136 (240b, 11x4) was the highlight of Jolly Rovers’s 310 for three against IOB at the IIT-Chemplast ground on Friday. Ramkumar and M. Vijay (63, 154b, 6x4) put on 177 for the first wicket in 55.5 overs. Then, Ramkumar and S. Badrinath (72, 95b, 8x4, 1x6) gathered 96 for the second wicket in 23.2 overs. Ra. Aravind’s 102 (214b, 11x4, 1x6) and useful contributions from S. Murali (41) and I.K. Rohit (49 batting) helped Parry’s recover from 19 for three against Indian Bank at MAC. At stumps, Parry’s was 250 for six. Left-arm paceman V. Rajnikant scalped three and wicket-keeper K.H. Gopinath had five victims. Bad day for Alwarpet
Globe Trotters, with off-spinner Aashish Kapoor and left-arm spinner K.R. Sivaprakash grabbing four wickets each, bundled out Alwarpet for 108 at the MRF-Pachaiyappa’s ground. S. Vidyut alone offered some resistance with an innings of 45 (111b, 3x4). Trotters was 75 for two in reply. Holder Vijay progressed to 219 for seven against Young Stars at the SRMC ground. N.
