Man hacked to death Crime notes

BANGALORE: A man with criminal antecedents was hacked to death by an armed gang in Adugodi police station limits on Thursday.

The police said that around 7.30 p.m. three men attacked Venu Kumar (30) with swords and choppers near his house in EWS Quarters in Viveknagar. A seriously injured Kumar was admitted to Bowring and Lady Curzon Hospital, where he died around 10.30 p.m.

On a complaint by Kumar’s mother, Jayamma, the Adugodi police have registered a case of murder. Preliminary investigation revealed that Babuli, Banu and Appu, associates of the jailed gangster Shekar, had killed Kumar following rivalry, the police said.

Two killed

Two persons were killed on the spot when they rammed their motorcycle against a road median near Ramagondanahalli in K.R. Puram traffic police station limits on Thursday midnight.

The victims have been identified as Muniswamy Gowda (35), the rider, and Venkatesh (30), who was riding pillion. The two were agriculturists from Naduvatthi village in Hoskote taluk, the police said.

Attacked

Kiran (26), who works in a bakery, was seriously injured when unidentified men stabbed him with a knife and hit him on the head with an iron rod in Kadugondanahalli police station limits on Friday. The incident occurred around 5.15 a.m. near the bakery in Govindapura. Kiran is battling for life at NIMHANS, said the Kadugondanahalli police.

Burglary bid

Burglars attempted to loot gold ornaments from a jewellery shop in Yeshwanthpur police station limits on Thursday. The police said the thieves had dug a half-km-long tunnel to enter Gokul Jewellers situated on 1st Main Road, Mathikere. They apparently ran away after hearing the siren of the police patrol vehicle, the police said.
