Institute a legal aid cell to help victims of domestic violence: Dattatreya

HYDERABAD : The two-day meeting of the State executive of BJP Mahila Morcha commenced here on Saturday with a call by the State president Bandaru Dattatreya asking the women’s wing to launch an anti-liquor agitation from October 2.

He asked them to declare a war on liquor, which the State Government was promoting with the aid of belt-shops to earn Rs.5,000 crore annually. The Government considered the Excise and Prohibition Department a money spinner. Mr. Dattatreya asked them to institute a legal aid cell to help victims of domestic violence. Bangaru Susheela, an MP from Rajasthan and wife of former BJP president Bangaru Laxman, asked Mahila Morcha to step up enrolment of women in the wake of party’s decision to allot 33 per cent posts to women. T. Vijayalaxmi, State president of the morcha, also spoke.
