Rs.1.20-crore golden palanquin for Raghavendra

Mutt building to come up at Rameswaram at a cost of Rs.1 crore

KUMBAKONAM: A golden palanquin for Raghavendra will be made by the Sri Raghavendra Swamy Mutt at Mantralayam at a cost of Rs.1.20 crore, according to Sri Sushmeendra Theertha Swamiji, Peetathipathi of Sri Raghavendra Swamy Mutt.

The Swami, who was at Kumbakonam to participate in the aradhana of Vijayeendra Swamiji, Guru of Rahavendra, told presspersons on Friday that 15 kg of gold will be used for making the planaquin. A devotee who attended the aradhana at Kumbakonam on Friday donated four kg of gold for the palanquin, the swamiji said.

One dining hall will be constructed at Mantralayam at a cost of Rs.3 crore and declared open on August 20. A mutt building will be constructed at Rameswaram for the benefit of devotees at a cost of Rs.1 crore.

The Mutt has also donated Rs.5 lakh for constructing additional classrooms in the school where President A.P.J. Abdul Kalam studied at Rameswaram.

The swamiji said that the aradhana for Vijayeendra Theertaru, Acharya of Dwaida Siddhantha found by Madhwacharya was being held for the past 400 years at the Kumbakonam Raghavedra Vijayeendra Mutt.
