Jeweller duped of Rs. 5 lakh Crime notes

BANGALORE: A youth diverted the attention of a jeweller and made away with Rs. 5 lakh in cash from the utility box of his scooter in Wilson Garden police station limits on Friday evening.

The police said that after withdrawing Rs. 5 lakh from the Karnataka Bank’s Wilson Garden branch, Bansilal Jain, the jeweller, kept the cash in the utility box of his scooter. After reaching his shop on 4th Cross, Wilson Garden, Mr. Bansilal parked the scooter in front of his shop.

A youth came there and told Mr. Bansilal that a boy had stolen a bucket that was in front of the jewellery shop. When Mr. Bansilal started looking for the bucket thief in the vicinity, the youth made away with the cash from the utility box of the scooter, the police said. The Wilson Garden police have registered a case.

Bag snatched

Two men, who came on a motorcycle, snatched a hand bag containing Rs. 1,200, a mobile phone and credit cards from a woman in MICO Layout police station limits on Friday.

The police said around 9 p.m. the motorists snatched the bag from Rathna Agarwal while she was walking in 2nd Stage, BTM.

Killed

Raji Krishnan (28), a software engineer, was killed when she rammed her moped against a road median on BTM Layout Ring Road early on Saturday.

The police said the accident occurred around 2.15 a.m. while she was on her way to her paying guest accommodation. Raji of Kerala was an employee of HTMT here. The Madivala traffic police have registered a case.

Arrested

The Hulimavu police have arrested Govinda Nayaka (28) of Kanakapura taluk on the charge of murdering his wife. The police said that on August 28, 2006, Nayaka strangled his wife Mahadevamma at their house in a slum in Hulimavu, off Bannerghatta Road.
