Bangalore: JSS Mahavidyapeetha’s Advanced Jewellery Design Technology Centre will be inaugurated on July 17 at the JSS Academy of Technical Education campus. The centre, which offers undergraduate and postgraduate courses in jewellery design and manufacturing, has been set up with the support of the Government of Karnataka under the ASIDE scheme and Dassault Systemes, France who have provided the design software. N.H. Dhananjaya, Director (Technical), JSS Mahavidyapeetha, told presspersons here on Saturday that the total cost of establishing the centre was Rs. 3.80 crore, of which Rs. 1.78 crore had been provided by the Government and the rest of the amount was jointly given by JSS and Dassault Systemes. “The main objective of the centre is to develop design methodology using computer aided design software. The centre also has facilities for casting technology, machine tools for jewellery making and rapid prototyping for product development,” he said. The centre will be inaugurated by Deputy Chief Minister B.S. Yediyurappa in the presence of Shivarathri Deshikendra Mahaswami of Suttur Math.
