To highlight farmers’ problems, housing programmes and corruption
HYDERABAD: The Opposition Telugu Desam Party has criticised the Government for its efforts to avoid discussion on major issues facing the State by limiting the forthcoming monsoon session of the Legislative Assembly to 10 days. The TDP will, however, try to ensure effective floor coordination in highlighting issues like farmers’ problems, “neglect” meted out to weaker sections, irregularities in housing programmes and corruption at high places and seek response from the Government. “The House will effectively function for five to six days and the limited session exposes the Government’s intentions of fulfilling statutory obligations rather than discussing people’s problems,” senior TDP leaders K. Vidyadhara Rao said. Addressing a press conference along with party’s spokesman E. Peddi Reddy here on Saturday, he alleged that Ministers and senior representatives of the Congress were competing with one another in amassing wealth by indulging in corrupt practices. Competition evident
The competition was evident from the fact that leaders were vying with one another for setting up cement and steel plants. “While Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy’s family had a faction feud with Minister J.C. Diwakar Reddy earlier, it has now turned into a competition for setting up industries,” he said referring to reports in a section of media about a cement factory reportedly being set up by Mr. Diwakar Reddy at Anantapur.
