HYDERABAD: The Andhra Pradesh Unemployed Struggle Committee has criticised the Cabinet’s decision to create 10,000 jobs in six moths saying that it went against the Congress’ pre-election promise of creating 2.5 lakh jobs. R. Krishnaiah, president, in a statement charged the Government with changing its stand as indicated in the party’s manifesto besides failing to fill the backlog jobs of BCs, SCs, STs and also teacher’s posts. Hyderabad: The Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy sanctioned the proposal to upgrade the Government Girls High School, Falaknuma and Government Girls High School, Maisaram to Junior College for girls with English as medium of instruction. The decision was taken based on representations from minority organisations and parents to improve access for minority girl students to higher education, according to a statement. The upgraded junior college will offer MPC, BPC and CEC or HEC courses. -Special Correspondent Looted property recovered
KURNOOL: In a daring operation, the police chased a robbers’ gang and recovered the booty near Nandavaram in Kurnool district in the early hours of Saturday. According to reports, a 11-member gang raided the house of industrialist Laxmana Swamy at Bethamcharla and took away 80 tolas gold. Nandavaram SI Yugandharbabu chased the gang which fled after abandoning stolen jewellery and two-wheelers. -Special Correspondent
