S. Railway takes honours
CHENNAI: With an all-win record, Southern Railway emerged the women’s champion in the IOB-SRM Chennai District ‘A’ division volleyball league here on Saturday.
Railway’s final match was against GKM Club, and much to the relief of all fans, the match ended before the first drop of rain fell on the court.
Rain then rendered the court unplayable for the remaining matches, in particular to decide the runner-up and other placings in the women’s section.
The 87-minute match ended in favour the Railway at 21-25, 25-18, 25-17, 25-23
Other results: Men: BSNL bt CRPF 23-25, 25-18, 25-20, 25-19; S. Railway bt SDAT 25-23, 25-22, 15-25, 22-25, 15-13; Armed Police bt BSNL 25-20, 25-13, 25-20.
