PJR puts off fast till July 19

HYDERABAD: Congress MLA P. Janardhan Reddy agreed to put off his indefinite fast till July 19 in view of the Presidential elections, saving the party from embarrassment, though temporarily.

The breakthrough came when AICC observer and former MP Suresh along with Rajya Sabha member V. Hanumantha Rao met Mr. Janardhan Reddy at the latter’s residence. The two Congress leaders also called on Y. S. Raveendranath Reddy, brother of the Chief Minister. Mr.Hanumantha Rao met Advisor to the Chief Minister K.V.P.Ramachandra Rao before proceeding to the house of Mr. Janardhan Reddy.

In a related development, Mr. Raveendranath Reddy and his brother Y. S. Sudheekar Reddy, at a press conference on Sunday, said they were willing to reconsider the whole issue if the complaint filed by Mr. Janardhan Reddy’s wife was withdrawn.

Meanwhile , Mr. Janardhan Reddy softened his stand after a 90-minute meeting with AICC leaders. He said that he had decided to defer his fast heeding the plea of the high command.
