Relief from flood threat

Belgaum: There is some temporary relief from the “flood threat” in Krishna river as the intensity of rainfall has eased in the last few days in Maharashtra and adjoining areas in Karnataka, incharge Deputy Commissioner Vijaykumar N. Torgal said here on Monday. He told presspersons inflow into Krishna from Rajapur barrage and other reservoirs in Maharashtra had come down considerably. As on Monday, the outflow from Rajapur barrage was 82,000 cusecs. The cumulative inflow at Almatti dam was 1,31,843 cusecs and outflow of 1,19,008 cusecs. — Staff Correspondent

Three drown in Markandeya

BELGAUM: Three persons drowned in the Markandeya river near Honaga village of Belgaum taluk on Sunday. The victims are Mohammed Hassan Mujawar (34), Shirin Rauf Jardosh (24), and Sharmin (four). The victims were washed away while they were crossing the river. — Staff Correspondent
