Policeman killed in freak accident

VISAKHAPATNAM: K. Trinadha Reddy, 48, a constable was killed when the ‘gopuram’ of a chariot fell on him during the Jagannatha Ratha Yatra festival in the Old Town area on Monday.

The ‘gopuram’ got dislodged when it hit the electric wires near the Vighneswara temple. The constable fell unconscious after sustaining a head injury and succumbed to it on the way to hospital, I Town CI K. Ramakrishna Prasad said. Commissioner of Police N. Sambasiva Rao condoled the death. -Staff Reporter
