TD move draws flak

Special correspondent

HYDERABAD: The CLP has dubbed the TDP’s decision to boycott the Presidential elections as ‘moral bankruptcy’ on its part. Addressing a press conference here on Monday, Agriculture Minister N. Raghuveera Reddy, Government Chief Whip N. Kiran Kumar Reddy and MLA G. Venkat Reddy said the decision of the Leader of Opposition to boycott the elections was in bad taste. It was unfortunate that TD president N. Chandrababu Naidu decided to boycott the election in spite of the ruling party’s plea against such a step.

The office of the President should be above petty political considerations but the TDP and other constituents of the United National Progressive Alliance (UNPA) were displaying utter disregard to the established norms of democracy.
