TIRUCHI: The Thanthai Periyar E.V. R. Nagar Welfare Association, Thiruvanaikoil has urged the Corporation authorities to take necessary steps to commission the pumping station set up in that area in order to clear the stagnant drainage water.

In a memorandum to the Corporation Mayor Sarubala R. Tondaiman, the association president P. Subramanian said drainage water had remained stagnant in the north-west corner of the Nagar for several years.

After repeated pleas a pumping station was constructed in 2001-02.
