Ways with waste

The problem of garbage dumping begins at home. Ideally, it should be dealt with at home itself.

This is the gist of the awareness campaign launched by the social services organisation Welfare Services in Kochi city.

The organisation, in association with private companies, launched a campaign on Tuesday to educate people on the need to process garbage at home.

A large pot, which will be provided by the organisation, could be used as a container for depositing the garbage, which could be converted into manure under a buy-back scheme.

While the solution sounds good, the question remains as to whether the city dwellers are in the mood to support it.
