Treat for Hindustani music lovers this weekend

BANGALORE: Hindustani musicians will charm classical music lovers this weekend with their vocal renditions.

Bangalore’s Dhananjaya Kulkarni, will perform at MES College on Saturday at 6.30 p.m. Accompanying him on the harmonium, will be Ravindra Katoti, and on the tabla, Ravikiran Nakod. The programme is being organised by MES Kalavedi.

On Sunday, music organisation Saptak will present Aditi Kaikini-Upadhya from Bangalore and Pandit Raghunandan Panshikar from Pune at Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan for two recitals starting at 5.30 p.m. Dr. Katoti will be on the harmonium again, and on the tabla, Rajendra Nakod and the renowned Ravindra Yavagal. Both programmes are free.

Aditi, who was trained by her father Pandit Dinkar Kaikini, has also had training in light music under Shobha Gurtu. Pandit Panshikar is a student of Kishori Amonkar of Jaipur-Atrauli Gharana.
