High Court refuses to hear bar’s plea
Staff Reporter
NEW DELHI: The Delhi High Court has refused to hear a petition by the Supreme Court Bar Association seeking a direction to the Appu Ghar management here to shift the amusement park from its Pragati Maidan premises and hand over the land to the Bar for construction of lawyers’ chambers.
Following a Supreme Court order last year, the Delhi Development Authority had allotted the land to the Bar for construction of lawyers’ chambers but the Appu Ghar management has not vacated the premises so far.
Declining to hear the plea, a Division Bench of the Court comprising Justice M. K. Sharma and Justice Sanjiv Khanna asked the Bar to approach the Estate Officer of the DDA for a speedy hearing of the matter. The Court directed the Estate Officer to hear the matter under the Public Premises Act.
