HASSAN: The “Hakki Pikki” tribe staged a dharna in front of the Deputy Commissioner’s office in Hassan on Tuesday protesting against the reports published in a section of the media that the tribes were involved in recent dacoity of petrol station on the outskirts of Hassan. The protesters said about 260 families belonging to the tribe lived at Angadihalli in Belur taluk. The tribe members met Superintendent of Police Panduranga Rane who told them that the tribe was not accused in the dacoity of petrol station and that he had not released any press bulletin in this regard. — Staff Correspondent
