Stalin honours DMK cadres

REMEMBERING their leader: The Minister for Local Administration, M.K. Stalin, unveiling the statue of former Chief Minister C.N. Annadurai in Tuticorin on Monday. —

Tuticorin: The Minister for Local Administration, M.K. Stalin, unveiled a statue of the former Chief Minister, Conjeevaram Natarajan Annadurai, at the roundabout near Kamaraj market here on Monday.

A remote controlled pigeon garlanded the statue amidst cheers from the public.

The statue was erected at a cost of about Rs. 7 lakh raised by the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam cadres.

At another function the same evening to mark the 84th birthday of the Chief Minister, M. Karunanidhi, and his 50th year at the Legislative Assembly, Mr. Stalin honoured DMK cadres who had rendered “distinguished service” to society over a long period.

A total of 319 partymen received Rs. 10,000 each as cash award.

The Minister for Animal Husbandry, P. Geetha Jeevan, and the Union Minister of State for Home Affairs, Radhika Selvi, were present.
