The protest forced Chairman Arun Kumar to adjourn the House twice
Patna: Agitated members of local bodies on Tuesday sat on dharna in the well of Bihar’s Legislative Council, demanding that the State Government formulate a monthly pay package and ensure pension for all elected panchayat representatives. Package
The protest forced Chairman Arun Kumar to adjourn the House twice in the pre-lunch session. As the House sat for the day, the 24 MLCs said the State Government should frame a monthly package and ensure pension for all elected panchayat representatives soon. Mr. Kumar, however, advised the members to raise the issue after question hour. As the agitated MLCs did not relent and continued shouting slogans, Mr. Kumar adjourned the House minutes after it sat. The MLCs again raised the issue when the House re-assembled and trooped into the well, demanding a statement from the State Government on the issue. Lunch recess
Some MLCs, including Usha Sahni, Sanjay Kumar, Parmatma Rai, Samir Kumar Singh, Balram Singh Yadav, Dilip Yadav, Sunil Kumar Singh and Laldas Rai, then trooped into the well and sat on dharna. As the din continued, the Chairman adjourned the House till the lunch recess.- PTI
