Alleged suicide by Excise Commissioner’s wife
Staff Reporter
NEW DELHI: The 48-year-old wife of K.K. Goel, Commissioner of Central Excise and Customs, has allegedly committed suicide at her residence here.
Bharati Goel, who purportedly had a history of psychiatric disorder, was found hanging from a ceiling fan in her A-4 Tilak Lane multi-storey flat by the neighbours in the afternoon.
“Mr. Goel was away at work in Gurgaon when the incident took place. Ms. Goel had been feeling depressed for the past many days and her husband feared that she would harm herself. So he called up his neighbours in the afternoon and enquired about her,” said a police officer.
The neighbours reached the house and found loud music blaring from inside.
When their repeated knocks failed to elicit any response, they broke open the door and found her hanging.
