Plea on bus passes being considered

Bangalore: Transport Minister N Cheluvarayaswamy on Tuesday informed the Legislative Assembly that the demand of students organisations to provide concessionary student bus passes throughout the year was under consideration. He, however, rejected the demand for further reduction in fares.

None of the road transport corporations was running services on commercial lines, and they were meant to also provide transport in rural areas, he said. Eighty per cent of the mofussil services operated by the transport corporation were running at a loss, he said.
