Preparations are on at a brisk pace

MYSORE: All cinemas in Mysore have decided to dedicate their morning show of July 27 to Rajkumar films.

Entry for the show will be free and passes would be distributed on July 25, according to sources.

A decision in this regard was taken at a meeting held at the office of the Deputy Commissioner recently.

District in-charge Minister G.T. Deve Gowda said that while all cinemas have agreed to screen Rajkumar films on that day, it has also been decided to hold a seminar on the late actor.

President, Akhila Karnataka Dr. Rajkumar Fans’ Association, S.R. Govindu said that Rajkumar had a special attachment to Mysore and he was eager to shoot his films in Mysore.

In view of this, the film chamber would support the Mysore Utsav and would provide films needed for the film festival in the name of the thespian. Convener of the utsav Deepak Thimmaiah said there was a plan to produce a documentary film on Parvathamma Rajkumar and screen it also on the occasion.

This would be done with the support of the film industry.

Mr. Thimmaiah claims that the event is aimed at providing popular entertainment to the people.

Preparation is nearing completion, including signing of agreements with participants.

The places of various programmes and other main events have also been selected.

The event will be heralded with a Janapada procession from the North Gate of Mysore Palace to Ursu Boarding School Grounds, the main venue.

The programme is likely to be inaugurated by Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy and actor Vishnuvardhan.

Giving details of the programmes to be held during the utsav, he says that a colourful feature, Natyavaibhava, comprising traditional dances, with 10 choreographers and 100 dancers, will follow the inauguration on July 26. Later, models attired in Mysore Silk will present a fashion show.

The first day’s evening programme will also include a ghazal concert. On the second day, a musical event, Udayaraga, will be held from 7.30 a.m. in three parks of the city.

A colourful kite-flying festival will be held in the fields near the Lalit Mahal Palace Hotel from 3 p.m.

A unique event, Chitrasanthe, has also been planned. Kannada plays will be staged at the Ursu Boarding School. C. Ashwath, light music exponent, will present a programme and Vidyabhushana will present a Carnatic classical vocal concert in the evening.

The other programmes for the day include a music presentation by Shreya Ghosal and Manomurthy (U.S.) of “Mungaru Male” fame. Children who took part in the television programme Ede Thumbi Haaduvenu will also be featured.

On the third day, a programme has been planned for college students on the Ursu Boarding School Grounds. Singer Shaan will present a concert. Yakshagana will be arranged at the main venue from 11 p.m. until dawn the next day.

On the final day, Krishnegowda and Party will present a “Harate” programme. A dirt-track race, exclusively for women, will be conducted on the Bannimantap Grounds. Sardeshpande and Party will stage a play in the afternoon. A walkathon for over 60 citizens from the foot of Chamundi Hills to Bannimantap Grounds has been arranged.
