BHOPAL: The Madhya Pradesh Cabinet chaired by Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan on Tuesday cleared eight irrigation projects that are estimated to cost Rs. 820 crore. On completion, these projects would irrigate an additional 102,278 hectares of land. The Cabinet also approved the proposal for a new four-lane Bhopal by-pass road. Draft amendment bills approved
School Education Minister Narottam Mishra said that the Cabinet had endorsed the proposal to convert the old Assembly building (Minto Hall) in Bhopal into a convention-cum-trade centre. The Cabinet had also approved some draft amendment Bills. These include the Madhya Pradesh Professional Examination Board Bill-2007, Madhya Pradesh Cess Act-1981, Madhya Pradesh Tendu Leaves (Trade Regularization) Bill-2007, Madhya Pradesh Cotton Control (Amendment) Bill-2007, Court Fees (Madhya Pradesh Second Amendment) Bill-2007 and Madhya Pradesh Sthaniya Kshetra Mein Maal Ke Pravesh Par (Dwitiya Sanshodhan) Vidheyak-2007. Steps for industries
The Cabinet also decided to extend by one year the Udyog Mitra Yojana being implemented to revive sick and closed industrial units. Mr. Mishra said the Cabinet had approved the proposal to extend a Rs. 210-crore interest-free loan to the Madhya Pradesh State Industrial Development Corporation (MPSIDC) as it has to pay back dues to many lending agencies for loans taken in the past. This money was in turn advanced by MPSIDC as inter-corporate deposit to many corporate houses. A large number of these business houses became defaulters when it came to returning this money. Irrigation projects cleared
The Cabinet on Tuesday also approved of the Rs. 307.47-crore Harsi irrigation project in Gwalior-Bhind districts and Rs. 111.67 crore for the Mahuar medium irrigation project in Shivpuri district. It also cleared the revised administrative sanction of Rs. 46.95 crore for the Chambal (Kanera) lift irrigation project in Bhind district. Further, it cleared the administrative sanction of Rs. 154.54 crore for the Sagar medium project in Vidisha district. In the same district, the Rs. 28.35 crore Dehari medium project was also cleared. Administrative sanction of the Rs. 43.47-crore Seep Kolar link diversion project in Sehore district and administrative sanction of Rs. 94.38 crore for Singhpur barrage medium project in Chhatarpur district has also been granted.
