“Curb on political rights”

Special Correspondent

KOLKATA: The West Bengal committee of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) has expressed concern over the arrest of the former Bangladesh Prime Minister, Sheikh Hasina.

The arrest suggests that the interim Government in Bangladesh, which is backed by the military “is moving to curb political parties and democratic rights” when “its prime responsibility was to arrange for the holding of free and fair elections” in that country, the CPI (M) State committee said in a statement here on Tuesday.
