BANGALORE: Host St. Joseph’s Boys High School had mixed luck in the finals of the inter-school hockey tournament which concluded here on Tuesday. In the senior section for the Centenary Shield, St Joseph’s beat Baldwin Boys High School 1-0 with M.P. Appanna sounding the boards in the 12th minute. In the junior section for the Fr. Eric Vaz memorial trophy, St. Germain defeated St. Joseph’s 2-1 to lift the title. St. Germain opened the scoring in the 16th minute through S.L. Anil. St. Joseph’s fought back to restore parity with Trishul Chinappa (29th) scoring. Shortly after the break St. Germain converted its third penalty corner with P. Aaron sounding the boards. Anup of Baldwin and Neil D’Souza of St. Joseph’s were given the awards of “The most promising players” in the junior section while Khalin Joshi of Frank Anthony’s and Shahnawaz of Baldwin’s were given the same prizes in the senior section. Defending champion Malleswaram Gymkhana retained the title in the KSCA Group I, first division league which concluded here recently. In its last league match, Malleswaram Gymkhana had to settle for a draw with Jawahar SC (1). Malleswaram Gymkhana declared its first innings at 315 for six in 71.4 overs and in reply, Jawahar SC (1) scored 157 for three in 43 overs. Malleswaram Gymkhana topped the league with 37 points.
