SEPT boys impress

KOCHI: The SEPT, a Kozhikode-based football nursery, came up with an impressive performance in the Dalecarlia Cup international tournament in Dalarna, Sweden. The team topped its group in the under-11 boys’ event, winning six of its seven matches and drawing the other.

“Though there are three groups in the under-11 section, group winners do not meet each other in our age category,” said the Sports Education and Promotion Trust’s Arun Nanu, in an e-mail. “We scored 26 goals and conceded three.”

The team is now in Finland for the Kokkola Cup which begins on Thursday. “There are teams from Latvia, Russia, England, Ukraine, Estonia, Sweden, Norway, Germany and Brazil in this tournament,” said Nanu.

The SEPT will play two friendly games, against England’s Luton Town and GBK Kokkola, the host team from Finland, before the Kokkola tournament. – Principal Correspondent
