‘Promise of giving jobs to two lakh youth not kept’
Staff Correspondent
Chitradurga: Protesting against the Government’s “failure” in providing jobs to unemployed youth and not taking steps to resolve agrarian crises, Samajwadi Party State committee would hold “Vidhana Soudha chalo” programme in September.
Party’s youth wing State president Bhimrao Limbavali said the coalition Government, in its manifesto, had vowed to provide employment to two lakh youth. “But so far, no action has been taken,” he said.
Mr. Limbavali said under the pretext of development, the Government was grabbing farmland to set up Special Economic Zones (SEZ), which was only allowing the private corporate giants to exploit farmers. He made it clear that the party was not against the SEZs, but the Government should ensure that farmers get justified price to their land. He said the Government should not intervene while purchasing lands at low price. “Farmers should be allowed to directly contact the corporate companies which can negotiate for better prices,” he said.
