ADILABAD: The Telugu Desam Party (TDP) has demanded intervention of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh for the suspension of work on the Babli project on Godavari river across the border in Maharashtra’s Nanded district. The party also demanded the Government to ascertain the views of all political parties on the issue during the current Assembly session so as to make the State’s plea more forceful. At a press conference here on Tuesday Adilabad Zilla Parishad chairman Rathod Ramesh and former Minister G. Nagesh said the State Government was wilfully not presenting its case with regard to Babli in a proper manner. This was the reason why the Central Government was reluctant to order stopping of work on the project, they said and hoped that the Congress Government in the State would act upon it soon. Basar IIT
Talking about the Basar IIT issue, the TDP leaders said the Government had no commitment towards development of education in backward areas and the shifting of IIT was just an example of this accusation. Engineering colleges sanctioned in the district during TDP rule were also shifted, they added. Fill up posts
The leaders also demanded the State Government to fill up the vacant posts in the medical department. This became necessary as the spread of epidemics like gastroenteritis and gastro related diseases was more during the monsoon season in Adilabad district.
