Court stays proceedings in case against PJR’s son

Khairtabad MLA meets TRS president

Case has been cooked up, say petitioners

PJR thanks Chandrasekhara Rao for extending support

P. Vishnuvardhan Reddy

Hyderabad: Proceedings in the criminal case filed against the son of P. Janardhan Reddy, Khairtabad MLA, have been stayed for a period of six weeks by the High Court on Tuesday.

These stay orders were issued by Justice K.C. Bhanu of the High Court. P. Vishnuvardhan Reddy, son of Mr Janardhan Reddy, and Santosh Reddy, Mr Reddy’s son-in-law, both accused in the Jubilee Hills road rage incident, filed a petition before the High Court seeking a direction to quash the FIR registered against them.

‘Case cooked up’

The petitioners brought to the notice of the court that initially a complaint was given wherein it was alleged that 40 unidentified persons attacked Raveendranath Reddy, the Chief Minister’s brother, and his son and delivered blows. The petitioners complained that subsequently another report was given by Mr Raveendranath Reddy wherein the information furnished by the driver of a car and a visitor who attended the function at the house of the daughter of P.Janardhan Reddy was made available to the police.

The inclusion of these two witnesses who claimed to know about the involvement of the son of Mr P. Janardhan Reddy shows that the whole case has been cooked up, the petitioners alleged.

They wondered how a case filed on the charge of attempt to murder could be booked against them on hearsay and sought a direction to quash the case. The judge ordered notices and granted stay for six weeks and called for records.

PJR meets TRS chief

Special Correspondent adds: Meanwhile, Mr Janardhana Reddy late on Tuesday evening called on Telangana Rashtra Samithi president K. Chandrasekhara Rao at his residence. Mr. Reddy said he had met Mr. Rao to thank him for the support he extended when his son was arrested by the Jubilee Hills police for the alleged assault on Y.S. Raveendranath Reddy and his son Sumadhur Reddy recently.

The two leaders also discussed the Presidential elections due on Thursday. The TRS has not yet spelt out its stand on participating in the polls. TRS MLAs T. Padma Rao and P. Harish Rao were also present at the meeting.
