Vellayani boat race on August 28

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The 34th annual water sports festival and boat race for the Ayyankali Trophy will be held at Vellayani lake here on August 28. At a press conference here on Tuesday, office-bearers of the Sri Ayyankali Jalolsava Samithy trust said this year’s boat race would include big rowing boats from other districts. They said separate competitions would be held for boats in different categories. An Onam pageantry and a boat rally were being planned. They said the Navy had agreed to organise a show of its amphibian craft.
