Protesting doctors were joined by cardiologists Take out a silent march in the OGH compound
HYDERABAD: Chief Minister Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy on Tuesday accorded permission to conduct a DNA test to scientifically prove that the transplanted kidney of M. Radhika was not sold. The announcement follows after receiving a report from Dr. S. Bala Parameshwara Rao, chairman of the fact-finding committee constituted by the Society of Organ Transplantation and Indian Society of Nephrology. The committee visited Osmania General Hospital (OGH) on July 3 to verify veracity of allegations in the kidney transplantation. Ms. Radhika has earlier complained against the OGH Superintendent stating that her kidney was not transplanted to her father, Venkateswarlu, but was sold to outsiders. Earlier in the day, protesting against what they described as ‘callous attitude’ of the Government in taking action on the report submitted by a fact-finding team, senior nephrologists of OGH held a silent protest here on Tuesday. In poor light
The protesting nephrologists maintained that Ms. Radhika’s allegations have shown the hospital in poor light. The protesting specialists were joined by cardiologists and others. They attended duties by wearing black badges. A silent march in the hospital compound was also held. The Care Foundation Chairman B.Soma Raju, A. Gopal Kishan, V.N.Waghray, Suguna Ram Mohan, A.K.Chary and D.Raja Reddy took part in the protest.
