Actor Monica Bedi coming out of the Bhopal District Court after her acquittal on Monday.
Bhopal: Bollywood starlet Monica Bedi, acquitted by a court here in a fake passport case, on Tuesday expressed her desire to return to films and said she had received some offers. “I would definitely like to return to films,” a smiling Bedi told reporters at the Central Jail here a day after the court cleared her of charges under the IPC and Indian Passport Act due to lack of evidence. Ms. Bedi, extradited to India from Portugal with her companion Abu Salem in 2005, said she had not made any specific plans for returning to films as her acquittal had come as a surprise which she “had not even dreamt about.” “I have some movie offers but will not like to disclose them now. Though there are no immediate plans, I would like to pursue my career in films,” she said. “My family has been my strength. If they had not been backing me, I don’t know what I would have done.. may be commit suicide,” she said, adding she spoke to her father last month when he visited her in jail. While in jail for the past 10 months, she kept herself occupied by teaching other women prisoners yoga, dancing and English. She did this “to help the other girls who wanted to learn some dancing and other things.” Ms. Bedi will be taken to Hyderabad, where she was convicted in another passport forgery case, Jail Superintendent Purshottam Somkunwar said. — PTI
