NEW DELHI: The unseeded pair of Rohan Gajjar and Aditya Madkekar won the title beating the top-seeded combination of Syrym Abdukhalikov of Kazakhstan and Siarhei Betau of Belarus 7-6(2), 6-7(2), 7-5 in the final of the $15,000 ITF men’s Futures tennis tournament at Teheran.
The Indian duo negotiated two tough three-setters prior to the final, including one against Artem Isaev of Russia and Pavel Katliarou of Belarus 4-6, 7-6(4), 7-5 in the semifinals.
In singles, Gajja lost in the second round 3-6, 2-6 to the fourth-seeded Syrym Abdukhalikov, while the sixth-seeded Madkekar lost 3-6, 2-6 to Elbert Sie of Indonesia in the first round.
