India fails to make the grade

KOCHI: India finished second in its group and failed to qualify for the quarterfinals of the Asian junior badminton championship now in progress in Kuala Lumpur.

India opened its campaign in the mixed team event by drubbing Brunei 3-0 but lost to China 0-3 in the three-team Group ‘B’ decider.

China, which topped the group, went on to enter the final on Tuesday. It will meet top seed Malaysia in the final.
