SRINAGAR: Two Hizbul Mujahideen militants, waiting for a meeting with Lashker-e-Taiba counterparts, were arrested in Kupwara district on Wednesday. The militants, Tariq Ahmad Mir and Javaid Ahmad Bukhari, were arrested by a joint search party of police and army and two AK assault rifles and some ammunition were seized from them at Shatgundbala village in Handwara area of Kupwara, Handwara SP Haseeb Mughal said. On questioning, the duo said that they were affiliated to the Hizbul Mujahideen and had been deputed by one of their commanders to meet LeT militants operating in Mawar area for carrying out attacks in the area. — PTI
