Thiruvananthapuram: Reader-friendly tables and easy tips feature in the latest Indian Railways timetable for the Southern Zone.

The cover has the photograph of an Express train and commuters alighting on a swanky platform. ‘Observing cleanliness year’ slogan also appears on the cover.

The Southern, South-Central, South-Western and Konkan Railways coordinated in bringing out the comprehensive timetable.

Saffron colour has been used to facilitate easy reading of the tables. Salient features are highlighted in the 330-page book priced at Rs.30.

The book is self-explanatory as four simple methods have been listed and tips with illustrations provided on how to locate the correct tables.

Route maps have been given above all timetables.

Passenger information section has listed various amenities for passengers such as important telephone numbers, list of computerised reservation centres, travel concessions, refund rules, compensation and claims and list of trains with pantry facility.

Fares in Rajdhani, Shatabdi, Jan Shatabdi, Garib Rath; public grievance and machinery to redress it and public information under RI Act are provided in this section.

The Indian Railway Map and Southern Zone Map are also provided.

In the tourism information section, ‘Marvellous South India,’ places of interest and tourist destinations in Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh and Goa are listed.
