Puducherry: Cinemas in the Union Territory have been barred from screening special shows of new movies for fans’ associations or others. District Collector G. Theva Needhi Dhas noted that special shows were being screened to raise funds for welfare activities. Although the licensing authority was permitting the shows, certain untoward incidents were taking place in theatres during such shows. The Puducherry State Cine Exhibitors Association had also requested the Government not to permit such shows. Some of the MLAs had expressed concern over the incidents. — Special Correspondent
