Puducherry: A delegation of the Puducherry Catholic Laity Forum, led by Vicar General of Archdiocese of Puducherry and Cuddalore Very Rev. Msgr P.Antonisamy, presented a memorandum to Chief Minister N. Rangasamy on Tuesday urging him that Christians be sanctioned 13 per cent quota of reservation in jobs and education. The memorandum also said that it was a year since the assurance was given by the Government, and no order had been issued in this regard. It sought the order be issued expeditiously. The memorandum also pleaded that Dalit and Scheduled Tribe Christians in Puducherry be extended reservation in jobs and education and benefits of various welfare measures on a par with the Hindu Scheduled Caste people. ’ A separate Welfare Board should be formed. All those, who were Backward Classes in the community, should be included in the list of Most Backward Classes. A spokesman of the delegation later said that the Chief Minister told them that he would look into their representation.
