Chandigarh: Election to civic bodies in Amritsar, Ludhiana, Patiala and Jalandhar in Punjab would be held on August 10, in the first test of popularity for the Akali Dal-BJP coalition Government since coming to power in March this year. D. S. Bains, Principal Secretary, Local Government, said the notification had been issued regarding the election and the State Election Commission had been requested to take immediate steps for holding the poll to the municipal corporations. Meanwhile, the by-election to elect the members from 14 wards of various urban local bodies would also be held on August 10. PTI
