Bandh call

CHIKMAGALUR: The district administration here is on the alert after Maoists made a call for bandh in the Kudremukh National Park area on Thursday. Assistant Commissioner Dayanand told presspersons that tahsildars had been directed to be vigilant. Pointing out that the bandh call was illegal, he assured that steps had been taken to ensure that normal life was not disrupted. Additional police personnel had been deployed and combing operations had been intensified in the area which includes parts of Chikmagalur, Udupi and Shimoga districts. — Special Correspondent
