Wolf axed to death

NALGONDA: The wolf that created havoc in five villages in Nalgonda-Mahabubnagar boarders was finally killed by Ganta Krishanaiah at Mannevarpalli of Achhampet mandal, Mahabubnagar district on Tuesday night. “The wolf barged into our campus even as we were taking about precautionary measures to be taken to tackle it. My son axed him to death,” Ganta Baarammma told reporters. Before straying into Mannevarpalli, the animal injured more than 15 persons at Gonaboinapally, Jal thanda, Gowraram and Guntupally. Some of the victims are being treated at Government hospitals in Hyderabad.

Before being killed by Krishnaiah, it attacked one Balaiah. “It was very ferocious. The timely intervention of Krishnaiah saved Balaiah’s life,” M.Pushpalatha, an eye witness, said. Krishnaiah used his axe to kill it on the spot.

Meanwhile, forest officials of the two districts visited the village and conducted a post mortem on the wolf. “People are surprised to know that it was a wolf that went berserk for two days.
