Bihar Speaker should quit: JD(U) member

Special Correspondent

PATNA: Dissidence within the ruling Janata Dal (United) surfaced in the Bihar Assembly on Wednesday with one of its members demanding the resignation of Speaker Udai Narain Chaudhary on the grounds that his name figured in a murder case.

JD(U) member Cheddi Paswan demanded that Mr. Chaudhary quit the constitutional post as his name figured in the FIR lodged in connection with the murder of the former MP, Rajesh Kumar, when he was returning from campaigning during the 2005 Assembly election, which he contested on the LJP ticket from the Imamganj constituency.

Picking up the threads, the Opposition parties led by the RJD insisted that the Government hand over the case to the CBI.
