BANGALORE: Carmel Convent, winners of the Soundarya Cup inter-school tournament last week, lost to St. Mary’s (Millers Road) in the girls’ section league stage of the Karnataka Volleyball Association-conducted State-level high school volleyball tournament at the Sree Kanteerava outdoor courts here on Wednesday. Carmel, however, qualified along with St. Mary’s, Sports School (Vidyanagar) and Stella Mary’s for the super league. The Stella Mary’s girls recorded two victories and the one against Gandhi Vidyashala was a keenly fought one. Sports School (Vidyanagar) also made the super league in the boys’ section with a 25-16, 25-22 win over Bangalore HS (RV Road). Shantiniketan (BTM), Gandhi Vidyashala (Srirampuram) and AV Education (JP Nagar) too made it to the super-league. The results: Boys: Gandhi Vidyashala bt Shantiniketan (Bilekehalli) 26-24, 25-20; SS (Vidyanagar) bt BHS (RV Road) 25-16, 25-22; Shantiniketan (BTM) bt Basaveswara (Nelamangala) 25-6, 25-21. Girls: SS (Vidyanagar) bt Shantiniketan (Bielkehalli) 25-5, 25-7; Chickmagalur bt Shantiniketan (Bilekehalli) 25-12, 25-4; Mahila Seva Samaja bt Carmel ‘B’ 25-7, 16-25, 15-7; Stella Mary’s bt Shantiniketan (BTM) 25-17 , 25-22; St. Mary’s bt Carmel Convent 25-14, 25-16; SS (Vidyanagar) bt Chickmagalur 25-8, 25-17; Stella Mary’s bt Gandhi Vidyashala 21-25, 27-25, 15-7. — Special Correspondent
