Five men trapped in LH lift

Staff Reporter

BANGALORE: Five persons, including the operator of a lift in Legislators’ Home-1, faced anxious moments as they were trapped in it for nearly an hour on Wednesday afternoon.

Gangadhara, a cashier in Apex Bank, had gone to meet a legislator. He and three others got into the lift on the third floor. The lift stopped moving soon after the door closed. This was followed by a disruption in power.

Gangadhara said he took out his mobile phone only to see that there was no network coverage.

He then used the mobile phone of the lift operator Sanjivaiah and called the police in the Legislators’ Home outpost.

The police came to the spot with the service engineers of the lift and the Fire and Emergency Services personnel. It took nearly an hour to break open the lift door and rescue those inside.
