Ombudsman sitting: six cases settled

KOCHI: The authorities should furnish the details for denying benefits like financial assistance for marriages for the economically weaker sections of society, said T.K. Chandrasekhara Das, Ombudsman for Local Bodies.

The directive was issued on a complaint from K.S. Velayudhan of Chellanam which stated that the Chellanam panchayat had denied financial support for marrying off his daughter. Mr. Das also directed the panchayat to furnish details for denying the petitioner the benefits. Of the 42 cases that were considered, six were settled.
