Staff Reporter
WARANGAL: The district administration is embarking upon bringing a white revolution by distributing animals in a large scale. Under the ‘Pasu kranthi’ scheme, it has decided to give 5,000 cattle from Haryana and Punjab besides sheep, goats and hens to poor farmers.
The scheme is aimed at helping the farmers in mandals which are drought hit where the agricultural activity is low.
In view of failing crops due to inadequate water supply and consequent suicides by farmers, these special schemes were offered to mitigate their problems. The district administration proposes to give one cattle costing Rs 30,000 each to the each beneficiaries with a 50 per cent subsidy and rest on bank linkage.
This project aims at improving the income of rural poor besides enhancing milk collection in the district.
“At present, 29,000 litres per day is collect through organised network. It should go up to 60,000 litres per day,” explained V. Laxma Reddy, Joint Director of Animal Husbandry Department.
